I've been telling my parents for years that I am their insurance policy for their retirement years. I mean it too. Once they are no longer able to care for themselves, I will keep my parents in our loving home.

With home health care insurance costs getting higher as they get older, I am thinking that it is time for us to review different insurance providers in the event that they have serious health issues. That way, when they need quality care I will be able to bring that care to them rather than sending them someplace else to get it.

The benefits costs become well worth the return should you (or your parents) lose the ability to earn income and maintain your home. I would hate for them to have to give up their home to cover medical costs before they are ready to sell.

This type of medical insurance is often used to supplement other, more comprehensive health coverage plans. The difference it makes can mean the difference between being able to afford to keep my parents in my home or having to play games with "the system," putting them in a medical health facility, just so they can be covered by their main insurance providers.

In the long run, home health care insurance costs are well worth the premiums that you pay on them. It is my honor to be the shoulder that my parents may lean on someday. I do not see the national health crisis of people living longer lives as a problem. Still, financially it could be a burden.

I am grateful that my parents are still here to share in my life. I am also thankful that Insurance companies offer me a way afford to care for my parents in the way that they deserve. I can pay back my parents for their years of support and love by keeping my home open to them in their declining years.
