Power Foods (C)
Today I will conclude our discussion about power foods with a discussion about whole foods and dietary fiber. These two power food categories contain a lot of different foods that many Americans simply aren’t working into their diets, and as a result they are suffering from a number of health problems like colon cancer, high cholesterol and hemorrhoids.
Dietary fiber is a component of foods that is not digestible. As a result, the fiber works its way through your digestive system and scrapes the ways clearing it of debris, cholesterol and feces. This makes it easier for you to stay regular and it makes it easier for your body to naturally cleanse its digestive system. Dietary fiber is found in whole foods, which we’ll talk about next.
Whole foods are foods that have not been processed. Whole wheat, whole grains, raw fruits and vegetables and nuts are all whole foods. The benefits of eating whole foods and foods rich in dietary fiber include: a reduced risk for heart disease, a reduced risk for colon cancer, a reduce risk for breast cancer and a reduce risk for developing hemorrhoids.
Working whole foods and foods that are high in dietary fiber into your diet really isn’t difficult to do because these foods are tasty. However, they do tend to take a little more work to prepare. Easy ways to work these foods into your diet include adding fresh berries to oatmeal, eating fresh fruit as a snack and using whole wheat or multi grain bread instead of white bread.
Many risk factors for long term care focus on the effects of living years with a poor diet. Fortunately you can minimize these risk factors by making small changes to your food choices. Adding power foods to your diet will improve your health, lower your risks for needing long term care and lower your premiums for long term care health insurance.
Minimizing your dependency on long term care in the future starts with what you do today. First of all if you smoke, stop right now, especially if you are pregnant. This will not only reduce how much long term care you will need, but it will also help to reduce how much long term care your child will need when they are older.
How fast can somebody begin to experience the results from utilizing it?
Good question. It depends upon how healthy your boday is and what other foods you are eating. You really need to clean out your body from toxins and junk food. Otherwise you are defeating the purpose. I am sure that the power foods will do you nothing but positive results compared to doing nothing!
