We have just completed the first week in November. It is hard to believe that it will be snowing and blowing soon, and ice and snow will soon overtake the grass in your yard. Since this is a month when slippery conditions traditionally develop, it is important that you learn how to keep yourself safe from slips and falls.
The first thing you want to do is stock up on salt or de-icer. You need this next to the outside door that you use the most. Sprinkle this on your walkway and stairs before you go to bed and then again in the morning. If you have a detached garage, then you will also want to keep a bad of de-icer or salt next to the door in the garage.
Next you will want to buy a quality snow shovel that is designed for easy handling. Look for a snow shovel with a groove on the underside of the shovel. This will channel the snow and make it easier to shovel the snow. Also look for one that has a handle that is long enough that you don’t have to stoop over. Finally, look for a snow shovel that is light weight. Keep your snow shovel located close to your door so you have easy access to it when it snows.
