Selecting coverage options is easier to do if you understand your risk factors. For example, if you have a family history of Alzheimer’s Disease or other debilitating disorders then you will want to select coverage that will include extra nursing home coverage. In addition to you risk factors you also need to look at your long term care preferences. For example, not all long term care insurance will cover in-home health care. If this is something that you want, then you will need to select an add on option for this type of coverage or you will need to select a plan that is designed to cover in-home long term care.
There are a lot of different coverage options that are available. Prescription medication coverage, for example, is an important option to select if you don’t have a private insurance policy that covers this expense. Medical supply coverage is another coverage option that can be valuable to add to your policy. Medical supplies include things like wheelchairs, motorized scooters, bandages, bed pads, portable commodes, catheters and latex gloves.
