Summer health tips…

Summertime is a natural time to think about your health and losing weight. After all, during the summer clothing is very skimpy. As you reduce your clothing to get comfortable in the hot and humid weather you soon realize how good or bad of shape you are in.

If you were unpleasantly surprised by how you looked in this season’s summerwear then you still have time to shape up this summer. Losing weight and getting fit are not as difficult as you think. Even small changes can have a huge impact on your overall health.

The first thing that you will want to do is to examine your diet. Keep a food journal that details what you ate, how much you ate and when you ate it. This information will give you an idea about what could be contributing to your weight gain. It will also help you to find simple ways to reduce your calories without starving.

To reduce your calories look at the empty calories first. Sugar is a good place to start. There are 16 calories per teaspoon of sugar. This may not sound like of calories but they add up quick. You can reduce the amount of sugar that you consume by reading the labels of the food that you buy. Try to avoid buying vegetables that are processed with salt and sugar.

Fat calories are another way to cut calories without having to starve to death. Extra fat can be cut from your diet by cooking using slightly different techniques. For example, instead of frying your eggs in oil you can fry them in a pan that is spray lightly with olive oil spray. You can also cut fat calories by using a reduced calorie spread or by eliminating the margarine or butter from dinner mixes.

All of these changes will help you to improve your health which will lower you long term care health insurance.
